Cardo Signing KBL.1Ricardo Ratliffe will begin his professional basketball career in South Korea after being chosen by Ulsan Mobis Phoebus with the sixth pick in the Korean Basketball League draft yesterday. Ratliffe was the top American college player selected in the KBL Draft held yesterday at the Palm Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, NV.

“I'm humbled and excited to have this opportunity to play professionally in the Korean Basketball League. This represents a new start for me and an opportunity to showcase my skills and abilities. I thank God my family and my fans for continuing to believe in me” shares Ratliffe.

Last season, Ratliffe led all NCAA Division I players in field-goal percentage, shooting 69.3 percent from the field while averaging 13.9 points and a team-high 7.5 rebounds. Ratliffe, a second-team All-Big 12 performer as a senior, was named Most Important Player of the West team in the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-Star Game in New Orleans in March during the Final Four.

Ratliffe plans to continue to pursue his ultimate goal of making the NBA and sees the KBL as an excellent launching pad for him. “I see this as an opportunity to prove myself as I did when going to junior college out of high school. I look forward to using my skills to help my team win this season. This is a new beginning for me” Ratliffe said.

The Korean Basketball League is the pre-eminent men's professional basketball league in South Korea. The Ulsan Mobis Phoebus team is a professional organization within the league who were league champions in 2010. They look forward to having Ratliffe join the team and help them regain the championship this season.
